Oh, Cake.
I did not buy their t-shirt for several reasons:
1) The only size they had left was 2XL
2) 20 bucks is a lot of bucks, especially after a $35 concert. Good thing I wasn't drinking (like everyone else) or I'd have to factor in another...oh...$30.
3) I can't even pretend I've heard of them first, because that song itself was written when I was one year old.
Even so, I DO love their music, so I went to the concert. I went with this chick right here, Amelia Bedelia (only less stupid).
It was a blast! We danced the night away, unlike most people around us who were busy being drunk (even when pregnant, as the lady right in front of us was), spilling beer on us, and dancing with their what-might-be-boyfriend-but-probably-isn't. This was us during intermission.
(low quality picture)
The concert itself was fun, and I loveeeed being able to sing and dance along with John McCrea. I just wish other people weren't such grossos.
That is a picture of what everyone there looked like: a beer in each hand.
That is me before the concert, the smell of cigarette smoke making me want to vomit.
That is a picture of a portion of the mondo crowd that was there. We got pretty awesome seats, It was great. I didn't take any pictures of the band though, because we were told to turn off our phones and cameras. Most people didn't follow that rule. I did. Woo, me.
Some of my favorite songs were: Sheep go to heaven, goats go to hell; Rock and Roll lifestyle; Mexico; and Short skirt, long jacket. John McCrea is SO funny, it was really unexpected. So were the constant sing-offs that tried to get us angry. I dug it, though.
Afterwards Amelia and I went to this supa-white place called Lunaberry. They sell froyo and crepes. I had a crepe with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and dark chocolate. Amelia had one with cranberries and turkey and, if I remember correctly, lettuce. . We shared a mango pineapple smoothie. It was pretty expensive, but super hip and WAY DELICIOUS.
Overall, it was a super great night. And I learned I never want to be drunk. It must be emberassing!
